Then Why Doesn’t It Just Happen?

Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. Now I guess it’s time to get back to work, which means we need to make sure everyone works safely this week so everyone will be able to enjoy the upcoming fall season.

So, what will you do today to help make sure you and those you work with are protected from workplace hazards?

Yes, I said you!

Workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility, not just the employees or the employers – it’s everyone’s.

It’s time everyone works together to ensure to the best of our ability that all employees go home at the end of every workday in the same physical condition they came to work that day.

To do this, employers need to make sure every employee understands exactly what hazards they need to protect themselves from and give their employees the right tools, equipment and PPE to get the job done safely.

Then employees need to learn to recognize workplace hazards and use the tools, equipment and PPE provided to protect themselves.

That’s all it would take to ensure everyone goes home safe and sound.

Doesn’t really sound too difficult when it’s said that way, does it?

Then why doesn’t it just happen?

It could be because some believe it’s not their job, or that workplace safety is just common sense, or that we’ve done it this way for the last 10 or 15 years and nothing serious has happened yet, etc., etc.

But the truth is simple – workplace safety is everyone’s job and we need to do something to get everyone on board or employees will continue to be needlessly injured on the job when, with just a little effort on everyone’s part, it could be avoided.

Please, don’t let another day go by without doing your part to eliminate workplace accidents. It might just save someone a lot of pain and suffering.
