Safety E-QuickTips is a weekly email designed to help Employers and Employees start their
week with a short thought about safety in the workplace.
Safety is About Results

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
As we move into December, I think it's a great time of year to evaluate your company's
safety program and see what you can do to improve it for 2012. Specifically what can you
do to ensure it provides maximum protection for your employees, company reputation and
To do this, I feel there is no better way than to see how your program has met each of the
4 OSHA requirements. I know that I've written about them time and time again, but I really
believe that they are one of the easiest and best ways to make sure your program is on the
right track.
So here's a quick look at OSHA's 4 requirements again.
1) Establish Policies and Procedures for Handling Employee Safety
2) Effectively Communicate (Provide Training for) the Program to your Employees
3) Perform Regular and Frequent Jobsite Safety Inspections
4) Enforce Safety with Your Employees
If you would like to see the 4 steps in more detail, check out these past 4 Safety EQuickTips - March 28, 2011, April 4, 2011, April 11, 2011 and April 18, 2011.
If your company has a written safety program and you have documented your safety
efforts, it should not be too difficult to determine where your program has met each of the
requirements and where you will need to put more effort in 2012.
As your review your program, I believe it is important to remember that safety is not about
how much time and money you put into it; safety is about results. And those results can
be measured best by increased employee involvement in your safety program, fewer
employee enforcement write-ups and, of course, a reduction in employee accidents.
In an effort to help you better protect your employees, reputation and profits in 2012, we
are continuing to improve our existing services while developing programs such as the
OSHA Citation Prevention System and the Managed Safety System.
Whether you are looking for a safety program that you can implement and manage on your
own or one that is managed for you, we'll have you covered.Have you just received your first Safety E-QuickTip or just want to take a look at past
