Safety E-QuickTips is a weekly email designed to help Employers and Employees start their week with a short thought about safety in the workplace.
It Will Be a Win/Win For Everyone
There are a lot of situations in life where for one person to win, another has to lose.
For a team to win a championship, another team has to lose. For an actor t end up with a role, others auditioning for the part will lose. For someone to get a job, others who have applied will lose. For a company to win a bid for a job, other companies will lose.
And as we have been reminded more than ever in this presidential election, for one person to become our next president, another has to lose.
Wouldn't it be great if this were not the case? Wouldn't it be great if everyone could emerge a winner in every situation? Well we all know that can never be the case.
But when it comes to workplace safety there is no question, everyone can come out a winner.
There is no question that a safe workplace benefits both employees and the company.
For employees it means going home at the end of the day in the same physical condition they came to work. Without injury, a trip to the hospital or even worse.
For companies it means enhanced production, reduced costs and increased profits. If that isn't a Win/Win situation for everyone, I don't know what is.
So why is it that for many companies and employees they just don't see it?
Maybe for employees it's because they just don't believe they will ever be injured because of a workplace accident. And maybe for companies they only see the costs associated with implementing a workplace safety program.
Whatever the reason, isn't it time that we take a real look at how workplace safety benefits everyone?
I hope everyone will take a moment this holiday season and see what you can do to make workplace safety a part of your company's future.
It will be a Win/Win for everyone.
From all of us at U.S. Compliance Systems, have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. And if you are going to participate in Black Friday - Be Careful Out There!
