The Rest of the Story

For those of you who have been reading Safety E-QuickTips over the years, you have probably come to anticipate that at least once a year I will talk about how you can protect yourself from costly OSHA citations.

Well, this is it.

I believe this is a good time to discuss it for 2 reasons.

One, it’s the first of the year and it is always a good time to try something new.Second, this is the time each year that OSHA increases its penalties, making this information a little more valuable.

So, here goes.

There are 4 steps you must take if you want to protect your company from costly OSHA citations. If you follow these 4 steps you can prevent citations if an employee is caught violating an OSHA standard.

They are:

1. Establish Policies and Procedures that Meet OSHA Requirements

2. Effectively Communicate Your Safety Program and Procedures to Your Employees

3. Perform Regular and Frequent Worksite Inspections

4. Enforce Workplace Safety with Your Employees

Rather than turning this into another 4 part series, I thought it might be easier to just send you back into past QuickTips so you can learn more about each one.

So, if you haven’t already done so, just click on the links above to read ... the rest of the story.

Hope you found the information helpful and even more importantly, I hope you take the time this year to implement the 4 steps at your company. These 4 steps will not only protect your company from costly OSHA citations, they will help ensure your employees go home at the end of the day in the same condition they came to work.
